Our guest beauty blogger, Ella Ryder, has been at it again! This time she’s sharing her top products for those sensitive skin types out there.
Sensitive skin types can often be overlooked by the beauty industry, with acne-prone skin and anti-ageing solutions taking the spotlight. For those of you with sensitive skin, I’m here to show you a few products that should help any irritation or redness that you might be prone to:
- Decléor Energising Gel, 150 ml £36.00. This green gel locks in moisture without being sticky and works to repair the skin cells from damage, such as stretch marks or scarring. It can be used on the face or body and if you use it everyday, you’ll definitely notice a difference in the overall firmness of the skin. I’ve chosen this as a sensitive skin product because it helps fade imperfections in a gentle way, as opposed to using exfoliating acids which is the most common way to treat issues like scarring.
- Elemis S.O.S Survival Cream, 50 ml, £52.50. When you are having an S.O.S moment with your skin, this is what you need. I wrote a entire blog post on how it helped my skin here. Don’t be scared by the balm texture; just use a small amount and warm it in your hands before gently patting onto the offending areas. Then leave it to work its magic overnight. Lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus are the key soothing ingredients in this. I recommend having this on standby if you’re prone to redness and sensitivity as it works almost immediately. I must admit I only have a small tube of the men’s version at the moment (don’t ask!) but they both work equally well.
- Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask, 75 ml, £30.00. This is one of my favourite face masks for when my skin is feeling unbalanced. For an intense treatment, use this before applying the S.O.S Cream and you’ll be amazed at the transformation. Again, the lavender is essential to calming the skin. I love this because it doesn’t dry hard like a lot of masks. In fact, it pretty much sinks into the skin making it undetectable to anyone else. Sometimes I even forget I have it on! Even if you have oily skin this is great at helping to balance the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.
- Nuxe Comforting Cleansing Milk, 200 ml, £14.00. I’m using this as my main cleanser at the moment because it leaves my skin feeling so soft and is really effective at removing make-up. |Double-cleansing in the evening is really important if you wear make-up, so I use one pump to remove face and eye make-up, rinse and then re-apply for a more thorough clean. The instructions say you can use this without water but I feel much cleaner using it. If you’re having unexplained problems with your skincare routine, always start with the cleanser because it’s the most important step. This is very affordable and smells like a combination of rose and coconut oil, which would explain the pretty pink colour.
